The movement for reparations is accelerating, in no small part thanks to Land and Economic Justice initiatives among Black communities globally impacted by colonialism in all of its forms. This is in addition to countries calling for reparations throughout the Black diaspora globally. We have an incredible opportunity in front of us: to harness the energy across the public and private sectors to achieve reparations. We believe this opportunity provides a doorway to engage a broader public to educate Black communities on the process of reparations that ultimately liberates us from the legacy of slavery and settler colonialism. We get to transform our livelihoods through shifting our beliefs around work through transforming the politics of labor and land ownership. Ultimately, we get to determine our own destinies as non-negotiable where we build power among each other, liberating us from the colonial, imperialist, capitalist urges to have power over each other. nii.a.k , (Allen Kwabena Frimpong, Executive Producer of The Remedy is Solidarity)
This multimedia anthology, The Remedy is Solidarity is a cultural strategy to educate and activate public will for the demand for reparations globally across the Black diaspora. It comprises volumes that include exhibitions, audio/video interviews, short essays, artwork, zines, and curated music and soundscapes as part of a live community archival process that officially launches in 2024 and continues over a three year period through invitationals and open calls.
